BVA Hip and Elbow Scores

The British Veterinary Association (BVA), in collaboration with the Kennel Club, established the Hip and Elbow Dysplasia Schemes to help breeders and owners identify and manage these inherited conditions. The schemes involve radiographic examinations of a dog’s hip and elbow joints to assess their development and identify any abnormalities. This allows breeders to make informed decisions surrounding breeding to reduce the incidence of these conditions in future generations.
